William Henry Tatem, aged 53, of 1043 Campostella Road, died yesterday morning at 8:15 o'clock at a local hospital after an illness of three weeks. He was a native of Maple, N.C., but had lived in this section 43 years. He was a son of the late Spencer Hall Tatem and Mrs. Angelica Tatem. He was a member of the Marine Engineers Association, Odd Fellows and had been commander of one of the vessels of P.F. Martin & Co. Surviving him are two brothers, Capt. J.L. Tatem, of Portsmouth and C.V. Tatem, and one sister, Mrs. A.L. Langley, of Berkley. The body was removed to the Funeral Home of Graham and Sykes, 124 East Berkley Avenue, where funeral will be conducted tomorrow afternoon at 3 o'clock. Burial will be in the family lot in Magnolia Cemetery.
