Taylor died at a local hospital on Oct. 30 and funeral services were held on Nov. 4 at St. John’s AME Church with the pastor, the Rev. H. M. shields, officiating. Interment was made in Calvary Cemetery. Mrs. Taylor is survived by her husband, Booker W. Taylor; son, Booker Taylor Jr.; parents, Mr. and Mrs. Cornelius Simmons, five sisters and three brothers. Norfolk Journal and Guide,Nov 17,1945 ------------ Norfolk - Mrs. Iola S. Taylor, 29, wife of Booker W. Taylor, local undertaker, died on Oct. 30 at 8:25 p.m. at a local hospital. The remains were removed to King’s Funeral Home and funeral arrangements are at this time incomplete. Mrs. Taylor, a native of Norfolk county, attended the public schools of Portsmouth and is a graduate of Norcom High School. She was a licensed beautician. Mrs. Taylor was also an apprentice funeral director and assisted her husband at Taylor’s Funeral Establishment, 871 E. Princess Anne road. Surviving are her husband; one son; three sisters, Mrs. E. B. Moore, Oak Grove, Mrs. Gussie Small, New York, and Mrs. Hattie Weir, Washington, DC; three brothers, Clyde, Washington DC, Colon T., USN, and Eddie Simmons, Newark NJ; and her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Cornelius Simmons, Oak Grove.
