He was an Army disabled veteran of World War I and member of Elizabeth City Elks Lodge 856. Other survivors include a stepdaughter, Mrs. Janet D. Ayers of Evergreen, Colo.; two sons, James E. Taylor Jr. and B. Bruce Taylor of Virginia Beach, a half sister, Mrs. Christabel Cross of Pelzer, S.C.; two half brothers, John Leslie Taylor of Pelzer and Fred Dennis Taylor of Anderson, S.C., five grandchildren and two step grandchildren. The body was taken to Twiford Memorial Chapel. *************************************************************************** ELIZABETH CITY, N.C - A funeral service for James E. Taylor Sr. will be held today at 11 a.m. in Twiford Memorial Chapel by the Rev. W. B. L. Hutcheson and Dr. Robert W. Kicklighter. Burial will be at 2 p.m. in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Norfolk.
