Taylor were conducted March 31 at Queen Street Baptist church by the Rev. R. L. Harris, pastor of First Baptist Church, Campostella. She died at her residence, 930 28th street, after an extended illness. A native of Bertie County, NC, she had lived in Norfolk for more than 50 years. At an early age Mrs. Taylor joined the Piney Wood Chapel Baptist church near Powellsville, NC and when she came to Norfolk, she joined the First Baptist Church of Campostella and remained a member there serving in the choir and on the deaconess board. The daughter of the late Jacob and Mrs. Katie Wynn and the widow of W. D. Taylor, she is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Mary C. Freeman; a son-in-law, the Rev. J. Jasper Freeman; two grandsons, Airman first class James J. Freeman, Jr, stationed in Alaska, and Clarence Eugene Freeman; three granddaughters, Miss Gloria Beatrice, C. Elizabeth and Maggie R. Freeman, all of Norfolk. Burial was in Calvary Cemetery with Riddick’s funeral service in charge of arrangements.
