R.B. TAYLOR The Remains Were Laid to Rest in the Family Vault Yesterday The funeral of Dr. R.B. Taylor, who died at his residence on Bute Street Thursday night, took place yesterday afternoon from St. Paul's P.E. Church. The solemn services were conducted by the rector, Rev. Beverly D. Tucker, D.D. There was a large attendance of the friends of the deceased and a committee from the Business Men's Association, consisting of the following gentlemen, was in attendance: Messrs. T.F. Rogers, M.T. Cooke, Thomas L. Dornin, O.E. Edwards, J.G. Fiveash, J.W. Gilmer, W.W. Galt, Harry Hodges, E.M. Henry, C. Hardy, R. Henry Jones, S.P. Moore, R.B. Tunstall, John B. Whitehead and Frank Walke. The casket was borne by eight stalwart colored men and the following were the pallbearers: Joseph T. Allyn, George Chamberlain, B.A. Marsden, Theo. F. Rogers, Walter F. Irvine, J.R. Todd, B.W. Wilson and Walter H. Doyle. The remains were laid to rest in the family vault in Cedar Grove Cemetery. Dr. Taylor was fifty-nine years of age. He was a native of Norfolk, but resided and practiced medicine on the Eastern Shore for a number of years. He returned to this city, however, in 1890, and continued his residence here until he died. During his later residence in Norfolk he was in the fertilizer business with Mr. Adam Tredwell. During the War Between the States he was Major in the Sixth Virginia Regiment, and at the time of his death was a member of Pickett-Buchanan Camp, Confederate Veterans. The deceased was a brother of Captain William E. Taylor and Miss Sallie Taylor and married Miss Lelia Baker, daughter of the late Judge R.H. Baker, of Norfolk.
