Formerly of Richmond, he was a citizen of Norfolk for more than 37 years. He was educated at Duke and East Carolina universities and was a member of Christ and St. Luke's Episcopal Church, the Sons of Confederate Veterans and the Unity Church of Tidewater. Mr. Taylor had two novels and two books of short stories published. Significant others are Lee Taylor Koren, Kevin McGee, David Koren, Jane Chambers, Bob Lewis, Calvin Shockley, Andrea Englert, Kay Rinfrette and Brenda Cummings. Mr. Taylor was the son of the late Charles R. Taylor Sr. formerly of Kinston, N.C., a city councilman, hotel manager, and president of the Kinston Baseball Association. He was the grandson of the late William Edward Fisher Taylor, a principal in the Baltimore City Schools, and was the great-grandson of William Edward Taylor, who served in a medical capacity for the Confederacy in the War Between the States. A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday in the chapel of Cox Funeral Home. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery. Condolences may be offered to the family through www.dmvobits.com/cox.
