PORTSMOUTH - Vernon E. Taylor, 85, of Wilkins Court, died Dec. 24, 2006, in 
Maryview Medical Center. He was the widower of Hermione Taylor and retired from 
the Norfolk Naval Supply Center as a warehouseman foreman. He was a member of 
First Baptist Church Bute Street, Norfolk, and a U.S. Army veteran. He was 
predeceased by his parents, Cora Wright Taylor and George E. Taylor Sr. 

He is survived by a grandchild, Vivian Taylor; daughter-in-law, Ethel Taylor; 
two sisters-in-law, Pearl G. Skinner and Clyde T. Taylor; nieces, Delores T. 
Fitzgerald, Alpha Ann Davenport, Yvonne Butler, Iris Moore and Dolores Horton; 
nephews, Samuel O. Sears, Harold Plummer, Sherman Summerville and Corey 
Summerville; and other relatives, in-laws and friends, including a devoted 
friend, George Hayes. 

A funeral will be held today at 1:30 p.m. in First Baptist Church Bute Street, 
Norfolk, by the Rev. Robert G. Murray. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery , 
Norfolk. The body will be taken to the church at noon today. Corprew Funeral 
Home, Portsmouth chapel, is in charge.
