He was a native of Norfolk and the son of the late Harry W. Sr. and Bessie Tabb Taylor. Mr. Taylor was retired after 30 years of service from the Norfolk Naval Shipyard, Portsmouth, as planner and estimator. He was a member of First Baptist Church Bute Street and had been active as a member of the Men's Chorus and Chancel Choir and had the distinction of starting the Tape Ministry at the church. He received his early education from the Norfolk Public Schools and completed the apprentice program at the Norfolk Naval Shipyard. He was a Navy veteran and served in World War II. He leaves to cherish his memory two devoted daughters who cared for him faithfully during his illness, Eunice Taylor Joseph and Patricia A. Taylor; a sister, Elsie T. Faison; three grandchildren, Aaron Taylor, David Taylor and Dominique I. Joseph; a daughter-in-law, Lillian Taylor; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, among them, Joseph McConnell. He was predeceased by a son, Harry W. ``Bucky'' Taylor. A funeral will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday in First Baptist Church, 418 E. Bute Street, with the Rev. Dr. Robert G. Murray officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery . Viewing will be from 2 to 6 p.m. today at Riddick Funeral Home. The body will be placed in the church at noon Thursday. The family will be at the home of Goldman and Evelyn Sears Peevy, 5313 Halter Lane, Norfolk.
