Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - Thursday, November 7, 1996 
Booker W. Taylor Sr., 85, of the 400 block of New York Ave., died Nov. 2, 1996,
in a local nursing home.

A longtime resident of Norfolk and a Norfolk County native, Mr. Taylor was a
retired waiter and mortician associated with the former W.F. Taylor & Sons
Funeral Home, Norfolk.

Mr. Taylor was the son of the late W. Francis and Gertrude Locker Taylor and the
widower of Iola Simmons Taylor. He was preceded in death by a son, Booker W.
Taylor Jr. He was a lifetime member of St. John AME Church, where he was a
senior steward and a great prayer warrior.

Survivors include three sisters-in-law, Dorothy P. Taylor and Minnie M. Taylor
of Norfolk and Elvy S. Moore of Chesapeake; nine nieces, six nephews, a host of
great-nieces, great-nephews, other relatives and friends.

A homegoing service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday in St. John AME Church
by the Rev. I.W. Knight. The body will be placed in the church at 9 a.m. Friday.
E.A. Hughes Funeral Home is in charge. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery .
