A native of Norfolk, he was the son of William Francis and Gertrude Locker Taylor. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Dorothy Panter Taylor; five daughters, Mrs. Elva N. Jones of Detroit, Mrs. Mona Gunn, Nancy Taylor, Gertrude Taylor and Elvira Taylor; five sons, Elvin S. Taylor, Jr.,Caulbeet Taylor, Stephen Taylor, Warren Taylor and El’Dawn Taylor, all of Norfolk; a brother, Booker W. Taylor of Richmond and three grandchildren. He was a former head waiter at the Golden Triangle Motel, now Holiday Inn-Scope. He was also employed with his father and brothers at W. F. Taylor and Sons Funeral hHome. He worked at Shore Drive Inn Restaurant and many other local clubs, hotels, motels, and restaurants. He was a veteran of World War Two and a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 367. He was a member of St. Joseph’s and St. Mary’s Catholic Church and finally, Sacred Heart Church.
