Richmond Dispatch, August 10, 1886


Captain Babel Taylor, a prominent citizen and well-known steamboat-man, died 
yesterday morning at Lake Springs, Roanoke County. Captain Taylor had been 
suffering for years from a disease contracted while steam boating on the 
Roanoke River, which annually prostrated him, and the only relief afforded was 
the water of the Roanoke Red Sulphur Springs. He was on his was to that point, 
when he became so ill that he could get no further than Salem and Lake Springs
