Norfolk Virginian Pilot Sunday March 19, 1939

Mrs. Jeneva Shannon Tennis, aged 65, wife of Arthur B. Tennis and the 
daughter of Mrs. Margaret Shannon Tennis (sic Shannon), a native of 
Elizabeth City, N. C., and a resident of Norfolk for the past 40 years, died 
at her residence in the Henrietta Apartments yesterday morning at 3:30 
o’clock after an illness of two weeks. Besides her husband, Mrs. Tennis is 
survived by a number of nieces and nephews. She was a member of the Baptist 
Church in Elizabeth City.
Funeral services will be conducted at the Ewell & Williamson Funeral Home, 
Thirty-Fifth Street at Colonial Avenue, tomorrow afternoon at 3:30 o’clock, 
the Rev. Henry W. Tiffany, D. D., pastor of the Park Place Baptist Church, 
officiating. Interment in Elmwood Cemetery.
