Norfolk Virginian Pilot Tuesday September 28, 1943


William Edward Terry, aged 81, died at a local hospital yesterday afternoon 
at 2:30 o’clock after a long illness. He was a native of Caroline County and 
had been a resident of Norfolk for the past 52 years. He was a son of the 
late William E. and Julia Madison Terry. Surviving Mr. Terry are three 
daughters, Mrs. Lyla Davis and Mrs. W.W. Timberlake, of Norfolk, and Mrs. 
Martin Anderson of Long Island, N.Y.; a brother, Sam Terry of Norfolk; 13 
grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. 
Funeral services will be conducted in the funeral chapel of James V. Derry, 
1920 Colley Avenue, Wednesday afternoon at 3:30 o’clock. Interment will be 
in Elmwood Cemetery.
