Norfolk - Virginia Thatch of Norfolk, passed away on July 25, 2018. Virginia was 
born in Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina to the late Oliver W. Waters and Minnie E. 
Davis. She grew up in the Hickory section of what was then Norfolk County. She was 
preceded in death by her husband Philip B. Thatch and daughter Phyllis T. 
Kurowski. She is survived by her son, Philip B. Thatch, Jr.; daughters, Catherine 
Black (Don) and Annette Griffin (Tony). She is also survived by her sisters, Jean 
White, Clara Davis, Patsey Stubbs; and brother, Jimmy Waters; as well as numerous 
grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. A graveside service will 
be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 1st at St. Mary's Cemetery, Norfolk. In lieu 
of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church 
Building Fund, 5345 Virginia Beach Blvd, Virginia Beach, VA 23462. H. D. Oliver 
Funeral Apts., Norfolk Chapel is handling arrangements. Online condolences may be
