The Virginian Pilot November 7, 1966 


Virginia Beach-David Benson Thatch, 86, of 5616 Shell Road, Bayside, died 
Sunday at 7:30 p.m. in his home.
A native of Princess Anne County, he was the husband of the late Mrs. Florence 
Mattox Thatch and a son of Joseph B. and Mrs. Missouri Savage Thatch.
He was a retired carpenter and a Baptist.
Surviving are three sons, Joseph M. Mattox of Virginia Beach, Leighton R. 
Mattox of Chesapeake, and Richard D. Mattox of Portsmouth; a daughter Mrs. Ann 
Mattox Barnes of Virginia Beach; 10 grandchildren; and three great-
grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held in Bayside Chapel of Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home 
Tuesday at 11 a.m. with burial in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Norfolk.
