CHESAPEAKE - Alfred Edward Thebarge, 68, of 4000 Keith Court, the husband of 
Mrs. Helen McSweeney Thebarge and a son of Joseph George and Mrs. Emily Contoure 
Thebarge, died in a Norfolk hospital Sunday morning.
A native of Cadillac, Mich., he lived here most of his life. He was a member of 
St. Mathew’s Catholic Church, its Nocturnal Adoration Society, and was a past 
4th Degree, Knights of Columbus.
Besides his widow, he is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Theresa Barco, and Mrs. 
Margaret Ann Ligon of Alexandria; a son, Alfred E. Thebarge Jr. of Chesapeake; 
and four sisters, Mrs. Eddie Kelly of Chesapeake, Mrs. Anna Smith and Mrs. 
Loretta Zoby of Norfolk, and Mrs. Ozine Sprock of Baltimore; and six 
grandchildren.
The body will be taken from H. D. Oliver Funeral Apartments, Norfolk, to St. 
Matthew’s Catholic Church for a funeral service Tuesday at 10 a.m. Burial will 
be in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
The Office of the Dead will be said in the funeral home tonight at 7:30.
