Thom, No. 380 Freemason Street, at 3:30 o’clock Friday morning was solemnized from St. Luke’s Episcopal Church at 1 o’clock p.m. yesterday, in the presence of a large congregation, including relatives and close friends of the deceased from the Eastern Shore and Richmond. The services were conducted by Rev. B.D. Tucker, of St. Paul’s and Rev. Dr. C.E. Grammer, of Christ Church. The hymns, “Nearer My God to Thee” and “Rock of Ages” were sung by the choir and congregation, and the selection “One Sweetly Solemn Thought” was touchingly rendered as a solo by Miss Ethel Neely. The handsome cloth casket was literally covered with the choicest of flowers. The interment was in Elmwood Cemetery. Following were the pall-bearers: Active Caldwell Hardy, H.C. Davis, S.S. Nottingham, Jr., Mayor C. Brooks Johnston, P.H. Thomas, James A. Kerr, George McIntosh and Captain W.R. Mayo. Honorary- John B. Whitehead, B.T. Bockover, Richard Walke, Judge James E. Heath, Thomas R. Ballentine, Charles Sharp, Washington Taylor and C.W. Grandy.
