A native of Berkley, she lived in this area all her life. She was a retired storekeeper of Norfolk Naval Air Station. She was the widow of Leonard Melvin Thomas and a daughter of William Henry and Mrs. Louise White Plummer. She was a member of South Norfolk Congregational Christian Church and its Dorcas Bible Class. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Joyce Simmons and Mrs. June McHorney; two sons, Melvin L. Thomas and Arthur R. Thomas; six sisters, Mrs. Helen P. Allegood, Mrs. Louise P. Boyce, Mrs. Ruth P. Lee, Mrs. Mary P. Sullivan, Mrs. Martha P. Collins, and Mrs. Evelyn P. Albertson; and a brother, William D. Plummer, all of South Norfolk; and 10 grandchildren. A funeral service will be conducted Saturday at 3 p.m. in Francis A. Gay Funeral Home by the Rev. W.E. Joiner of South Norfolk Congregational Christian Church. Burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery, Norfolk.
