Virginian Pilot May 11, 1960

Mrs. Jennie Romanus Thomas, 73, wife of Peter Thomas and daughter of Joseph and 
Mrs. Annie Isber Romanus, died Tuesday at 4 p.m. in a Norfolk hospital.
She was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church and the Sodality of the 
Blessed Virgin Mary. She was a native of Lebanon and a resident of Norfolk for 
the last 60 years.
Besides her husband she is survived by six sons, Frank A. Thomas, John P. 
Thomas, Joseph J. Thomas, Leo Thomas and Paul Thomas, all of Norfolk and Anthony 
P. Thomas of Lynnhaven; five daughters, Mrs. Robert Casablanca, Mrs. Robert A. 
Zarn and Mrs. Robert C. Webb, all of Norfolk; Mrs. Nora M. Ambs of London Bridge 
and Mrs. Manley Bland of San Diego; 32 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and 
several brothers and sisters, in Europe.
The body will be taken from the H.D. Oliver Funeral Apartments to Blessed 
Sacrament Catholic Church for a funeral service Thursday at 10 a.m. Burial will 
be in St. Mary's Cemetery.  A Rosary service is scheduled at the funeral 
apartments today at 7:30 p.m.

NORFOLK — A funeral service for Mrs. Jennie Romanus Thomas, wife of Peter 
Thomas, who died Tuesday, was held at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church Thursday 
by the Rev. Thomas Summers. The Rev. Kenneth M. Rizer, the Rev. Nicholas Habets 
and the Rev. R. Roy Cosby were present in the sanctuary. Burial was in St. 
Mary's Cemetery. Pallbearers were Joseph M. Decker, Pete Decker, Wilson Decker, 
George Decker, Nabdie John and Ernest Zoby.
