Thomas of Frederick, Maryland, accompanied by a friend, arrived in this city on yesterday morning, and identified the remains of W. H. Fairfax - the name under which a young man a few days ago killed himself at the Mansion House — as being those of his brother, William Thomas. He was engaged in business in Frederick and was a married man with two children. On Thursday last he bade his wife an affectionate adieu, telling them that he was going to Baltimore on business and would return on the following day. Instead of doing so, he bought a ticket and started South, finally landing in this city. He was well-connected socially and happily married. For some time past, his habits had been intemperate, and this doubtless was the cause of his rash act, and it is stated that he recently attempted to take his life in Frederick by a dose of laudanum. His brother, Mr. David O. Thomas, seemed to be much grieved at the young man's unfortunate end, and excited the sympathy of all who saw him. The remains were taken to Baltimore on yesterday evening by the steamer Carolina, thence to be carried to Frederick for interment.
