THOMAS, of Scottsville, Albemarle County, Va., whose death occurred at the home of his son-in-law, Clarence M. Cruser, 518 Thirty-eighth Street, Virginia Place, Saturday morning, November 2, 1907, at 10 o'clock, was held from the above residence yesterday afternoon at 3 o'clock. Reverend Ryan, pastor of Christian Memorial Temple, conducted the services and the interment was in Elmwood Cemetery. The deceased was born near Esmont, Albemarle County, July 15, 1843, and that county has always been his home. He volunteered in the Confederate Army in April 1861 and fought under Gen J.E.B. Stuart throughout the entire war and was twice wounded. He is survived by three sons and three daughters---Luther B. and Robert A. Thomas, of Albemarle County, James E. Thomas, of Richmond, Va., Mrs. Clarence M. Cruser and Mrs. R.H. Wright, of Norfolk, Va. and Mrs. Henry Harris, of Scottsville, Va. He had been a consistent member of the Baptist church for a number of years and was much beloved by a large circle of friends in his native county. The pallbearers were: J.L. Heptinstall, J.S. Cooper, A.C. Ward, J.F. Howard, J.M. Fentress and J.L. Wright.
