NORFOLK - Benjamin F. Thomas Sr. of 1547 W. 45th St. died Sunday in a hospital.

A native of Mecklenburg County, he was retired from Norfolk & Western Railroad 
after 30 years, and retired from Norfolk Naval Shipyard after 10 years. He was a 
Baptist.

Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Velma Thomas Shaw of Long Island, N.Y.; two 
sons, Samuel I. Thomas, and Benjamin F. Thomas Jr., both of Norfolk; seven 
grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

A funeral will be held Wednesday at 1 p.m. in First Baptist Church, Lamberts 
Point, by Dr. M.L. Williams. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Metropolitan 
Funeral Home has charge. The family is at 14th W. 45th St.
