Kevill, No. 124 Freemason Street, yesterday at 12:20 o'clock, aged 20 years and 10 months, of pneumonia. He had been ill about a week with what at first assumed the form of la grippe. The deceased was a son of the late H.F. Thomas. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and the Norfolk City Guards. His character was unblemished and his popularity great. Company B, Fourth Regiment, Virginia Volunteers, Norfolk City Guard, has been called to assemble Wednesday to pay tribute to the deceased. *********************************************************************** An Imposing Cortege, Civic and Military The body of the late lamented Clifford Maupin Thomas was interred in Cedar Grove Cemetery yesterday after impressive services at the residence of the deceased's brother-in-law, John P. Kevill, No. 124 Freemason Street, conducted by Rev. Father W. Gaston Payne, in the presence of a throng of friends and relatives, among them being in full uniform, the Lee Rifles, Artillery Blues and Norfolk City Guard, of which he was a member. The cortege, following the remains to the cemetery, was headed by the military in command of Major Harry Hodges. The bier was artistically covered with floral emblems. The pallbearers were: City Guards - John Soelzer, Chas. A. Davis. Lee Rifles - Jas. J. Johnson. Norfolk Blues - C.L. Foster. Friends of the Deceased - G. Wilson Lee, Charles Carroll, Wade Vaughn, Charles Consolvo, Harry J. Laughllin, Willie Hope.
