He had been an active deacon in the Norfolk Union Mission where he served as a Bible teacher. Last rites were held at the First church of Christ Holiness, with the Rev. J. R. Handy officiating. King Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Those attending the funeral from out-of-town included Arthur Thomas, J. C. Burns and Mr. Parker, Wadesboro, NC; J. B. Curlee, Winston-Salem, NC; J. B. Thomas, Concord, NC; Mrs. Maggie Gaskins, New York City; Mrs. E. Law and children, Newark NJ; Mr. and Mrs. Wade Jones, Windsor, VA; Mrs. Fleeta Mash, Richmond. Also, Mr. and Mrs. Bradshaw, Richmond; the Rev. and Mrs. S. E. Pugh, of Cape Charles,VA. Mr. Thomas is survived by his widow, Mrs. Vandelia Thomas; one foster daughter; two foster grandchildren; two brothers and a host of other relatives and friends. Burial was in Calvary Cemetery.
