Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - Sunday, April 27, 1997 
Miss W. Francenia Thomas of the 3900 block of Llewelyn Ave., died Thursday April
24, 1997, in DePaul Medical Center.

She was a native of Norfolk and the daughter of the late Attorney William and
Hannah M. Billups Thomas. She was a teacher for the Norfolk Public Schools
retiring with 39 years of service. She was a graduate of Hampton Institute, now
Hampton University, and a member of St. John AME Church.

She was predeceased by two brothers, Cassius and Franklin, and a sister, Louise.

Survivors include two cousins, John E. Custis and his wife, Jean of Norfolk,
Laura C. Ferguson of Lawton, Okla.; and a host of friends including a devoted
friend, Margaret Drake.

A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 29, in St. John AME
Church, 545 E. Bute St., by the Rev. I.W. Knight. Burial will be in Calvary
Cemetery . Viewing will be from to 2 to 8 p.m. Monday in Riddick Funeral
Service. The family will receive friends at 6825 E. Tanners Drive, Norfolk.
