                     Francis Thompson, Tidewater Lawyer

Francis Seay Thompson of 3949 Ocean Cut Lane, a native of Portsmouth and 
lifelong resident of the area, died Sunday in his home. He was the husband of 
the late Norma Tompkins Thompson.
He was a lawyer with the Spinks-Benson firm and was a graduate of the College of 
William and Mary and Marshall-Wythe School of Law. He was a member of Star of 
the Sea Catholic Church, Princess Anne Country Club, Theta Delta Chi and the 
Virginia State and Virginia Beach bar associations.
Other survivors include a son, David Carter Thompson of Virginia Beach; two 
sisters, Margaret Thompson and Sarah T. Franz of Norfolk; and a brother, William 
G. Thompson Jr. of Virginia Beach.
A joyful Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Star 
of the Sea Catholic Church. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. H.D. Oliver 
Funeral Apartments, Laskin Road, has charge of arrangements. Memorial donations 
may be made to the Rescue Squad of Virginia Beach, Virginia Beach Borough.

Sunday, FRANCIS SEAY THOMPSON, widower of Norma Tompkins Thompson and son of the 
late William G. and Mrs. Margaret Kenefick Thompson. A joyful mass of the 
resurrection will be held in Star of the Sea Catholic Church Tuesday at 11 a.m. 
Burial, St. Mary’s Cemetery. H. D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Laskin Road, has 
charge. Memorials may be made to the Rescue Squad of Virginia Beach, Va. Beach 
Borough.
