Mr. Johnson had been in ill health during the summer and was only able to be at his post of duty part of the time. He went to the mill Tuesday, but remained only a short time. He returned to the plant yesterday morning, feeling much better, and while there his condition became very alarming, so much so that he was hastily returned to his home in an automobile, reaching there about 9:30 o'clock. He expired within a half hour. He had been connected with the company for nearly twenty years and was formerly employed by Le Kies and Collins, lumber business. He was a native of Canada, but had lived in Virginia nearly thirty years. He was 55 years of age and leaves his widow and three children, Mrs. A.G. Ellis of Timminsvile, S.C.; Miss Della Thompson and John Thompson. Upon his arrival at his residence he was attended by Drs. Lawford and Sleet, in addition to a trained nurse. Everything possible was done for him, but without avail. The funeral arrangements will be announced as soon as his children arrive. *************************************************************************** The funeral of John Thompson, who died very suddenly at his home, 12 Hardy Avenue, Wednesday morning, will take place from the residence this afternoon at 3 o'clock and will be conducted by Rev. W.H. Osborne, rector of St. Thomas Church. The burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery.
