Burton- Thompson of the 400 block of W. 36th St., died March 16, 2002, in Bon Secours DePaul Hospital. A native of Currituck, N.C., she was a retired domestic engineer, a member of Second Calvary Baptist Church, Usher Board No. 2, Order of the Eastern Star Wheaton Chapter No. 2, Beulah Temple No. 4 I.B.U.P.E., and United Order of Tents. Survivors include her husband, James W. Thompson ; two daughters, Ruth B. Black and Marietta D. Thompson , both of Norfolk; three sons, the Rev. Weldon E. Thompson of Norfolk, Reginald L. Thompson of Chesapeake and Arthur L. Thompson of Portsmouth; a sister, Golethia Smith of Portsmouth; three brothers, St. Clair Burton of Fayetteville, N.C., Willard Burton of Norfolk and Howard Burton of New York; 10 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends. A funeral will be at noon Thursday at Second Calvary Baptist Church by the Rev. Dr. Geoffrey Guns with burial in Calvary Cemetery. The remains will be ready for viewing Wednesday from 3:30 to 8 p.m. The remains will be taken to the church at 10 a.m. The family will assemble at the residence at 11 a.m. for the procession.
