NORFOLK - Helen V. Thompson, 82, of the 6900 block of Bonnot Dive, passed away 
peacefully April 30, 2007, at Tandem Nursing Facility. Born in Lewiston, N.C., 
Helen moved to Norfolk at a very early age. She was employed at the Pancake House 
at Wards Corner for more than 25 years from where she retired. She was predeceased 
by one daughter, Jannie L. Johnson and one granddaughter, Gabriel E. Johnson.

She leaves to cherish her memory two daughters, Gloria J. Upshur and Terri 
Thompson, both of Norfolk; one son, Ricky D. Little of Norfolk; two sisters, Annie 
Woody of Raleigh, N.C., and Valerie Johnson of Maryland; three brothers, Frank 
Johnson, Stanley Johnson and Norris Johnson, all of Lewiston, N.C.; three 
grandchildren, Wilbert Upshur III and Timothy J. Thompson , both of Norfolk and 
Erik S. Johnson of Lewiston; and a host of other relatives and friends.

A homegoing celebration will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in the chapel of 
Metropolitan Funeral Service, 7246 Granby St. Interment will be at St. Mary's 
Cemetery, Norfolk. Family and friends will assemble at 6952 Bonnot Drive one hour 
prior to the service for the procession to the chapel. The family will receive 
friends from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. today at the funeral home. Condolences may be
