Norfolk Virginian Pilot December 1, 1954

William Greenwood Thompson, 82, husband of Mrs. Margaret K. Thompson and son of 
Ebenezer and Mrs. Sallie Minter Thompson, a native of Portsmouth and a lifelong 
resident of this section, died yesterday at 1:30 a.m. at the residence, 738 
Shirley Avenue.
Besides his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Harry J. Franz and Miss 
Margaret Thompson of Norfolk; two sons, William G. Thompson, Jr., of Virginia 
Beach and Francis S. Thompson, of Norfolk; one sister, Miss Sarah B. Thompson 
and a brother, James Binford Thompson, both of Portsmouth.
Services will be conducted at the H.D. Oliver Funeral Apartments today at 10:30 
a.m. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.

WILLIAM GREENWOOD THOMPSON.  Funeral services for Mr. Thompson, who died Tuesday 
at the residence, 738 Shirley Avenue, were conducted at the H. D. Oliver Funeral 
Apartments yesterday at 10:30 a. m. by the Rev. Thomas J. Walsh, pastor of 
Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Burial was in St. Mary’s Cemetery. The pallbearers 
were: Hamilton Plack, W. Edwin Snellings, Jr., Charles S. Nelson, Raymond J. 
Carroll, John Joseph Baecher, Paul Joyner, P. H. Allen and Roy R. Charles.
