Barbara P. Thorns, 55, of the 2300 block of Leeward Shore Drive, died Aug. 23, 
1995, in her home.

Mrs. Thorns was born in Norfolk, and was a Catholic.

Survivors include her husband, Harry E. Thorns, of Virginia Beach; two daughters, 
Clair Newbold of Norfolk, and Marie Kujawski of Chesapeake; one son, Matthew 
Thompson of Norfolk; her mother, Marie Phillips of Norfolk; one brother, Edmond J. 
Phillips of Kansas City, Mo.; and six grandchildren, Donald Newbold, Christin 
Newbold, Nicholas Newbold, and Matthew Thompson Jr., all of Norfolk, Rebecca 
Kujawski and Joseph Kujawski, both of Chesapeake.

A Joyfull Mass of the Resurrection will be conducted at 7 p.m. today at Holy 
Trinity Catholic Church by Father Lou Rouff. A graveside service will be conducted 
Saturday, Aug. 26, at 9 a.m. in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Norfolk.

The family will receive friends this evening from 5 to 7 p.m. in the church. The 
family will receive friends at 1340 Magnolia Ave., Norfolk, Va. 23508, following 
graveside services. H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Norfolk Chapel, is handling 
arrangements.
