She was born Aug. 12, 1922, in Holland, Va. Otelia was a member of Antioch Missionary Baptist Church where she sang in the choir. She was a retired self-employed manicurist and seamstress. She was predeceased by her husband, Amos Thornton; a sister, Alice Howell; and three brothers, Jobie, Alton and Benjamin Howell. She is survived by one sister, Sarah Perry, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Metropolitan Funeral Service, 120 W. Berkley Ave. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Norfolk. The family will receive friends at 6 p.m. today at the funeral home. Condolences may be offered at www.metropolitanfuneralservice.com.
