Norfolk - Annie Lucille Thorogood, 85, slipped away quietly on Tuesday, August 1, 
2017, in Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, surrounded by her children. Annie was 
born on October 29, 1931, to the late Annie Louise and Joseph Edward White. She 
was predeceased by her daughters, Recita Drew, Veronica Fatherly, and son, 
Lafayette Thorogood. She was reared and educated in Norfolk, VA. She attended 
Booker T. Washington High School and received a bachelor's degree in Social Work, 
graduating from Norfolk State University. She was an employee of Norfolk Social 
Services and Community Personal Care for several years. She was a devoted member 
at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church. Annie leaves to cherish her memories her 
daughters, Barbara Wright, Estelle Banks, and Venita Cary; her sons, Alvin 
Thorogood and Andre Thorogood; grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-
grandchildren and a host of family and friends. Visitation will be held, 1-5pm, 
Sunday, August 6, 2017 at Metropolitan Funeral Service Granby. A funeral service 
will be held 11am, Monday, August 7, 2017 at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church.
