The Norfolk Virginian Pilot April 7, 1938
Mrs. Esther Thrift, aged 39 years, wife of Frank K. Thrift, and daughter of the 
late William and Mrs. Matilda Mattson, a native of White Cloud, Mich., and a 
resident of Norfolk for the past two years, died at 2:10 o'clock yesterday 
morning at a local hospital. Besides her husband, she is survived by two sons, 
Frank K. Thrift, Jr., and Charles William Thrift, of Rescue, Va.; two sisters, 
the Misses Ellen and Evelyn Mattson, of Chicago, Ill.; two brothers, Oscar and 
Francis Mattson, of White Cloud, Mich.
Services will be held at the chapel of the H.D. Oliver Funeral Apartments, 1501 
Colonial avenue, this afternoon at 3 o'clock, with the Rev. H.S. Hardcastle, 
pastor of the Christian Temple, officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
