Mr. Thrift was a bricklayer, about 30 years of age, unmarried and resided with his mother on Bank Street. Dr. Newton was notified, viewed the remains and decided that he had been dead about twenty-four hours, and that death resulted from natural cause and that an inquest was unnecessary. The body was delivered to friends. The Public Ledger, Tues., April 12, 1892 Found Dead-A young man named Paul Thrift was found dead in the hall over Wiginton & Bell’s clothing store, Main Street, last night, when the janitor entered to light the hall from a meeting of the Bricklayers’ Union. The coroner was notified, and he view the body, deciding that in inquest was unnecessary. The deceased was a bricklayer, about 30 years of age, unmarried and lived with his mother in the city. Death ensued from natural causes about twenty-four hours before the remains were discovered, it is thought. The funeral took place at 4 o’clock this afternoon from the undertaking establishment of H.D. Oliver. The interment was in Elmwood Cemetery, Rev. Dr. Starr, of Cumberland Street M.E. Church, officiating. The Bricklayers’ and Masons’ Union was in attendance to pay respect to the deceased, who was a member of that organization. Norfolk Virginian Wed., April 13 1892 Funeral of Mr. Paul Thrift The funeral of Mr. Paul Thrift, the young man found dead in the hall of the Bricklayer’s Union, took place yesterday evening at 4 o’clock from H.D. Oliver’s undertaking establishment. The services were conducted by Rev. W.G. Starr, D.D. The interment was at Elmwood Cemetery. A delegation of the Union was present to pay a last tribute of respect to the deceased brother.
