Norfolk Ledger Dispatch October 13, 1931

James J. Tietgen, aged 76 years, died at a local hospital last night at 7 
o'clock. Mr. Tietgen was a native of Baltimore, Md. and a resident of Norfolk 
for the past 20 years. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and was an 
employee of the Sunlight Laundry.
Remains were removed to H.D. Oliver's Funeral Apartments, 610-612 East Freemason 
Street, pending funeral arrangements.

TIETGEN, JAMES J. - At a local hospital, Monday, October 12th, 1931, at 7 
o'clock p.m., JAMES J. TIETGEN, in the 77th year of his age.
Remains will be taken from H.D. Oliver's Funeral Apartments, No. 610-12 East 
Freemason Street, to St. Mary's Catholic Church for services THURSDAY MORNING at 
10 o'clock. Friends are invited to attend. Interment St. Mary's Cemetery.

JAMES J. TIETGEN — Funeral services for Mr. Tietgen, whose death occurred Monday 
night at a local hospital, were held at 10 a. m. yesterday at St. Mary’s 
Catholic Church, the Rev. A. J. Taylor officiating. There were many floral 
offerings. The casket was covered with a cluster of pink roses and ferns. During 
the service, several selections were rendered by the choir of St. Mary’s Female 
Academy. 
Interment was in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Pallbearers were C. L. Halblieb, George 
Mayo, Hugh Tarrell, Sol Tischler, H. A. Bass and B. O. Diggs.
