Last Respects to Dean of Norfolk Bankers at Church of Good Shepherd
Friends of Tench F. Tilghman will assemble this afternoon at the Church of the 
Good Shepherd in Meadowbrook, where final respects to the dean of Norfolk 
bankers will be paid. The funeral services will be held at 3 o’clock and will 
be conducted by the Rev. Newton Middleton and the Rev. Francis C. Steinmetz.
The board of directors of the Chamber of Commerce, of which organization Mr. 
Tilghman was treasurer, will be present in a body, and a delegation 
representing the Norfolk Chapter of Sons of the American Revolution will be in 
attendance. Member of the family have requested that friends omit flowers. 
Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery.
Mr. Tilghman, who was president of the Citizens National Bank and prominent in 
civic and social affairs of the community as well as in its business life, died 
near Apex, N.C. early Friday morning on a train in route from Camden, S.C. to 
Norfolk.
