Joe was born on November 6, 1954, in Norfolk, Virginia, as the son of the late Joseph Patrick and Eva Lee Tiller. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister and his loving wife of 31 years, Mary Margaret (Peggy) Alton Tiller. He is survived by his nieces, Erin Reavis, of Virginia Beach, Virginia, and Amy Reavis Giulioni, of Charleston, South Carolina. Joe was a graduate of Norfolk Catholic High School in Norfolk and the University of South Carolina in Columbia. He worked for many years at the University. He successfully managed the Wade Hampton Hotel when it was a dormitory for the University. He also worked in the Division of University Campuses and Continuing Education as the Director for Conferences, producing national and international meetings on behalf of the USC. He was very active in the Columbia Action Council and several other causes in the city of Columbia for many years, including participating in a Group Study Exchange to Tasmania sponsored by the Columbia Rotary Club. Joe and Peggy provided a loving home for their very lucky Springer and Brittany spaniel dogs. Memorials can be sent in his name to Pets Inc., PO Box 6394, West Columbia, SC 29171.
