Mrs. Octavia Timberlake, 52, a teacher in the Norfolk school system for 25 
years, was given final rites Wednesday at St. John AME Church.

She died April 14 at her home at 829 Avenue A.  Her service was conducted by the 
Rev. Walter Hildebrand, pastor of St. John, where she held membership.

Burial was in Calvary Cemetery under direction of Graves Funeral Home.

Mrs. Timberlake’s last teaching assignment was at John T. West Elementary 
School.  The West school principal, Miss Willie Mae Edwards, died in February.

A native of Norfolk, Mrs. Timberlake was the wife of George H. Timberlake, who 
died in February 1961.  She was a graduate of Virginia State College.

She is survived by two nieces, Misses Margaret and Antoinette Lymus;  a sister, 
Mrs. Rose Parker of Lancaster, PA;  a brother, Kenneth Lymus of Brooklyn;  and a 
half-brother, Frederick Carter of Cleveland.
