John Joseph Tinaro, also known as "Mr. T," 89, died Dec. 10, 2002. Mr. Tinaro was 
a lifelong resident of Norfolk. He was born to the late Louis and Annie Annarino 
Tinaro. Mr. Tinaro worked for the Norfolk city schools and retired in 1978 from 
Lakewood Elementary School.

Survivors include his loving wife of 44 years, Delores Brewster Tinaro; a 
daughter, Mrs. Paul Yodhes (Sandi); grandson, Michael Grasse; granddaughter, Mrs. 
Nickie Mills (Melody); three great-grandchildren, Darcy, Gavin, and Justin Mills; 
a sister, Gertrude Carlo; brother, Louis Tinaro and wife Elsie; ex son-in-law, 
Robert Grasse; and many nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in St. Mary's Cemetery, Norfolk, 
by Father Brian Rafferty. The family will receive friends at H.D. Oliver Funeral 
Apartments, Norfolk Chapel, today from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 7 to 8 p.m. In lieu of 
flowers, memorial donations may be made to Odyssey Hospice, 130 Business Park 
Drive, Virginia Beach, VA 23462.
