For Tocce, orchestra director for many years in local theatres, was prominently identified with the era of gala stage attractions of several decades past. Rosary services for Tocce were conducted last night at the H.D. Oliver Funeral Apartments and the funeral will be held today at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Tocce, who lived at 511 Colonial Avenue, was a musician from early childhood. At the age of 16 he conducted an orchestra in the old Granby Theatre. He went from there to the Wonderland and then the Academy of Music, where he remained as conductor for a number of years. When the Loew circuit opened new theatres in Memphis and Atlanta, he was the guest conductor for the official openings and he also was conductor at the opening of Loew's State here. When the talkies edged vaudeville out of the spotlight, Tocce turned to teaching and had a large number of violin pupils.
