Norfolk Virginian Pilot Thursday September 24, 1936
Henry Samuel Tompkins, aged 66, husband of Jennie Cuthrell Tompkins and son 
of the late Benjamin Franklin and Mary Wright Tompkins, a native and 
lifelong resident of Norfolk, died at 12:05 o'clock yesterday morning at his 
residence on Second street, East Ocean View.  Mr. Tompkins was a member of 
Norfolk Council No. 2, Order of Fraternal Americans.  Besides his wife, he 
is survived by one daughter, Mrs. H.S. Siebert, and one sister, Mrs. L.W. 
Capps.  Services will be conducted at H.D. Oliver's Funeral Apartments, 610-
12 East Freemason street, this afternoon at 2 o'clock by the Rev. J. Samuel 
Johnson, D.D., pastor of Ocean View Baptist Church.  Interment will be in 
Elmwood Cemetery.
