The Norfolk Virginian Pilot December 28, 1943
Mrs. Mary Stone Totty, 71, wife of Gilbert Henry Totty, died at a local 
hospital yesterday afternoon at 4:24 o'clock following a lingering illness.  
She was a daughter of the late Simeon and Jake Anne Stone.  Mrs. Totty was born 
in Princess Anne County and had resided in Norfolk practically all of her 
life.  She resided at 909 Harrington avenue.
Besides her husband, she is survived by four daughters, Mrs. J.C. Leigh, the 
Misses Margaret E. and Martha Totty, all of Norfolk, and Mrs. R.E. Jay, of 
Washington, D.C.; a son, T. Frank Totty, of Norfolk; a sister, Mrs. A.L. 
Whitehurst, of Norfolk, and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted in the James V. Derry Funeral Chapel 
tomorrow morning at 10 o'clock.  The Rev. P. Rowland Wagner, pastor of Central 
Baptist Church, will officiate.  Interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
