Norfolk Virginian Pilot September 23, 1944

Gilbert H. Totty, 74, died at a Norfolk hospital this Thursday night at 11:55 
o'clock after a long illness.  He was a native of Petersburg but has been a 
resident of Norfolk for 55 years and resided at 909 Harrington Avenue.  Mr. 
Totty was the son of the late Thomas and Mrs. Martha Wyatt Totty. Surviving him 
are four daughters, Margaret E. and S. Martha Totty, Mrs. Julian C. Leigh, of 
Norfolk and Mrs. R.E. Jay, of Washington, D.C.; one son, Thomas Frank Totty, of 
Norfolk; one brother, B. Franklin Totty, of Petersburg.  Funeral services will 
be conducted Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock in the James V. Derry Funeral Chapel.  
Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
