TOWILL, JOHN WILLIAM - At the residence, No. 432 West Nineteenth Street, Sunday, 
July 20, 1941, at 7:50 o'clock a.m., JOHN WILLIAM, husband of Mrs. Janie 
Ghiselin Towill and son of the late Matthew T. and Mrs. Bettie Blake Towill, in 
the 69th year of his age. Services at the chapel of the H.D. Oliver Funeral 
Apartments, No. 1501 Colonial Avenue, TUESDAY AFTERNOON at 2:30 o'clock. Friends 
of the family are invited to attend. Interment, Elmwood Cemetery.

John William Towill, aged 68, husband of Mrs. Janie Ghiselin Towill and son of 
the late Matthew T. and Mrs. Bettie Blake Towill, died at the residence, 432 
West Nineteenth Street, yesterday morning at 7:50 o'clock.
Mr. Towill was a native of Middlesex County, Va. and a resident of Norfolk for 
the past 10 years. He was a member of Christ and St. Luke's Church and Union 
Lodge No. 60, A.F. & A.M., of Baltimore, Md.
Mr. Towill was a traveling representative of the Standard Pharmaceutical 
Corporation
Besides his wife, Mrs. Janie Ghiselin Towill, he is survived by four sisters, 
Miss Angie H. Towill, of Norfolk; Mrs. W.E. Vellines, of Hinton, W.Va.; Mrs. 
William Cox, of Kilmarnock, Va. and Mrs. D.L. Hazelhurst, of Dallas, Tex.; one 
brother, Thurman B. Towill, of Richmond, Va. and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at the chapel of the H.D. Oliver Funeral 
Apartments, 1501 Colonial Avenue, Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, with the 
Rev. Taylor Willis, rector of Christ and St. Luke's Church, officiating. Burial 
will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
