Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - Sunday, December 16, 1990 
William Charles Towner , 75, of the 8500 block of Chesapeake Blvd., a retired 
chief sonarman, died Dec. 14, 1990, in a hospital.

Mr. Towner , a native of Chicago, retired from the Navy after 23 years. He was 
a member of Royster Memorial Presbyterian Church, American Legion Post 327, 
Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3160 and the Moose Lodge. He was a World War II 
veteran.

Survivors include his wife, Susan K. Towner ; a son, Gary W. Towner of Duluth, 
Minn.; a stepdaughter, Annette Phillips of Virginia Beach; a stepson, Everett 
Gay of Lynchburg; and a grandchild.

The graveside service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Monday in Elmwood Cemetery by 
the Rev. O. Martin Harris. Friends may join the family from 7 to 9 p.m. today 
at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Drive Chapel.
