The Norfolk Virginian Pilot January 27, 1937
Mrs. Lala Bennett Treakle, wife of Capt. Henry T. Treakle, died at a local 
hospital last night at 10:30 o'clock. Besides her husband, she is survived by 
three daughters, Mrs. Helen Treakle Parker, of Norfolk; Mrs. Margaret Treakle 
Browder, Jr, of Danville, and Miss Blanche Treakle, of Norfolk; her mother, 
Mrs. W.C. Hassell, of Norfolk; a sister, Mrs. Gladys Linn, of Norfolk, and two 
brothers, H.W. Bennett, of Winston-Salem, N.C., and W.R. Bennett, of Norfolk. 
Mrs. Treakle was a native of Washington, N.C., and had been a resident of 
Norfolk for 25 years. She was a member of Spurgeon Memorial Baptist Church, and 
Old Dominion Chapter 100, O.E.S. and resided at 2725 Stanhope avenue.
Funeral services will be conducted at the Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home tomorrow 
afternoon at 3 o'clock. Burial will be in Riverside Memorial Park.
