He was a native of Salisbury, N.C. He had resided in the south Hampton Roads area for 70 years. He was a retired civil service aircraft mechanic supervisor and retired with 33 years of service from the Naval Air Rework Facility, Norfolk. He was a dedicated wood worker and local historian. He was predeceased by parents, John I. and Annie P. Trexler; wife, Margie Lucile Jackson Trexler, who died Sept. 25, 1966; and brothers, Benjaman M. and Walter C. Survivors include his wife, Mary A. Trexler; sons, John S. Trexler of Norfolk and Charles A. Trexler of Corpus Christi, Texas and friend Doug McBee; daughter, Deborah J. Alvis and husband Chester Alvis of Quinton, Va.; stepson, Daniel W. Kesler of North Myrtle Beach, S.C. and friend, Betty Dooley; brother, Orville A. Trexler; sister, Annie Lorene Trexler, both of Salisbury, N.C.; grandchildren, Cynthia L. Paynter of Chesapeake and Aaron T. Curles of Hartfield, Va.; and two great- grandchildren. The family will receive friends in Kellum Funeral Home, Rosewood Chapel, Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. A graveside service will be held in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery on Granby Street in Norfolk Thursday at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 2730 Ellsmere Ave., Norfolk, VA 23513.
