' k There were tears not only for the dead, but for the living as Simon Trush, the husband and father, made his halting way into the church, his arms wrapped in the bandages which concealed the angry mark of the fire he tried in vain to stem in time to save his loved ones. And when the little white caskets of seven-year-old Elsie and the baby, Josephine, were carried up the aisle by reverent altar boys, clad in the vestments of their calling, there was many a mother in the congregation who clutched her own child tighter and many a father who breathed a silent prayer that his own little ones were united and happy. Six pallbearers, friends of the ill-fated family, bore the larger casket, which contained the body of the mother who braved the fire and lost her own life in a desperate attempt to save her children. Side by side, the three caskets were placed just without the altar rail. No Symbols of Sorrow I In accordance with the beautiful custom of the Catholic Church when the final rites are performed for children who die in baptisimal innocence, the church was decorated not with the symbols of sorrow, but with the trappings of gladness in token of the spiritual reunion of the little family in the happy hereafter. Scores of candles cast their soft glow over the church and softened the tear stains upon the faces of those who wept. “This is a moment when the heart is stirred with a hundred different emotions, one of which is admiration, for the great God whose designs we cannot fathom, but whose ways are always good," said Father P. P. Brennan, who had baptized the little sisters now still before him, and who had been intimately associated with the Trush family during the days when their home at Chapel and Falkland streets was as happy as anyone could ask. As he went on with his sermon, Father Brennan pointed out the consolation which faith always gives and reminded the congregation that those for whom they mourned were now happy in Paradise far above earthly joys. To the father, bowed with grief, he gave the thought that his loved ones above would watch over and pray for him and be waiting to receive him when that time comes when the family will be reunited in a place where no earthly circumstances can sever them. Buried Side By Side After the services in the church, which were enhanced by the singing of the choir of St. Mary’s Female Academy, the solemn cortege made its way to St. Mary’s Cemetery, where the three white coffins were lowered together into blossom banked graves. Soon, three white headstones will mark the final resting place of the mother and her children who lie, one on her right side, the other on her left. With Father Brennan were the Rev. E. A. Brosnan and the Rev. A. J. Taylor. The pallbearers for Mrs. Trush were Elck Mazetta, Peter Boyko, Nick Parkowitz, Vasil Lesicca, Tynatz Zemothel and Frank Boyko. The altar boys who carried the casket cf Elsie were Earl L. Chick, John M. McCarthy, James G. Bunce, Cornelius F. Payne, Thomas J. Hogan, and James M. Hayden. Those who acted in a like capacity for little Josephine were R. Cicero, James Whaley, John Bennett and Owen McLaughlin.
