Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - Saturday, July 15, 1995 
Martin Dorsey Turner, 51, of the 2500 block of Waverly Way, a stevedore, died
July 12, 1995, in a Virginia hospital.

Mr. Turner was born in Norfolk. He was employed by ILA Local 1248 for 23 years,
was a member of St. John A.M.E. Church and was an Army veteran.

Survivors include his wife, Joyce Denise Turner; two daughters, Christina D.
Turner and Sittesha Johnson; a son, Martin D. Turner Jr.; two sisters, Mrs.
Janette Lowery of Virginia Beach and Mrs. Sylvia Patterson of Richmond, Va.; and
two brothers, Dr. Phillip Turner and Kirby Turner, both of Virginia Beach.

A funeral will be conducted at noon Monday at St. John A.M.E. Church, Bute
Street, Norfolk, by the Rev. C. Douglas Mackey Archer Jr. Burial will be in
Calvary Cemetery . The body will be placed in the church at 10 a.m. Monday.
Family and friends will assemble at 11:30 a.m. at Hale Funeral Home for
procession to the church.
